Removal

Getting it out of the yard

This is the part people underestimate and it is the part that costs them money. Read the removal deadline before you bid, not after you win — and be honest with yourself about whether a 26-foot box truck fits on the back of your trailer.

Three yards

Where lots sit, and how they leave

Every lot page states the yard it is in. Pickup is always from that yard — we do not move lots between them for your convenience.

The removal clock

Removal windows are not the same across the floor, because the buildings are not the same. Restaurant and estate lots are five days because the landlord has already re-let the space. Storage units are 72 hours, which is set by the facility, not by us. Vehicles, equipment and IT are seven days.

The deadline runs from the invoice, not from the hammer, and not from when you got around to paying it.

Storage fees

$18 per lot per day for anything that fits on a pallet. $45 per day for anything occupying a bay or a yard space — a vehicle, a machine, a walk-in box. It accrues daily, including weekends, and it is payable before the lot is released.

Abandonment

At 21 days past the deadline the lot is deemed abandoned. We resell it, apply the proceeds to your storage bill, and invoice you for the shortfall if there is one. This has happened. We would rather it did not happen to you.

Questions

Before you bring the truck

Do you ship?

No. Bidding Floor does not pack, crate or ship anything. You are welcome to arrange your own freight and we will load it from the dock, but the carrier is your contract, not ours, and we will not sign for damage in transit.

What if I miss the removal deadline?

Storage accrues at $18 per lot per day for small lots and $45 per day for anything occupying a bay or a yard space, starting the day after the deadline. After 21 days the lot is deemed abandoned and resold, and you remain liable for any shortfall against your original invoice.

Can somebody else collect for me?

Yes. Email us the name before they arrive. They will need photo ID and the lot number. We will not release a lot to somebody who is not on the invoice and not on an email from the buyer.

Do you load?

At South Loop we have a forklift to 8,000 lb and a dock. At Cicero it is a ground-level yard — bring your own trailer, ramps and straps, and expect to do the work. At Gary the dock is open two days a week and only two days a week.

What about sales tax?

Illinois sales tax of 10.25% is charged on hammer plus buyer's premium unless a valid Form CRT-61 resale certificate is on file before the invoice is issued. Lots leaving the Gary cross-dock are taxed at the Indiana rate.
